The project involves the upgrade of South Road, between Grange Road and Manton Road at Hindmarsh, and Torrens Road at Ridleyton.
The state government's proposal is for South Road to be reconstructed so that traffic on South Road will continue uninterrupted past the Grange Road and Manton Street intersection, the Port Road intersection and the Outer Harbor Rail corridor. South Road will also be widened from the rail corridor to Torrens Road.
Construction on this project is not expected to start until 2010.
The planning study will continue over the next two years to determine the best solution to achieve 'free flowing' traffic along this section of South Road.
The department is available to meet with anyone who may be potentially affected by the project to discuss possible impacts and options that may be available in response to these impacts. This will assist the planning process and help keep people informed about the project.
