Glengowrie Tram Depot Upgrade project

Image of Glengowrie Depot

The Government's commitment to the continued expansion of tram services necessitates the upgrade of the Glengowrie tram depot.  The existing tram fleet of 11 Flexity-Classics and the H-class (heritage) trams is currently being increased by six Citadis trams. This significant increase in size of the main service fleet brings a need for increased stabling capacity, maintenance capability, and operational and staff facilities.

Upgrades have included a new stabling configuration, new tram and spray wash facilities, new storage sheds and a second tram lifting system to enabled simultaneous work on multiple vehicles including both types of contemporary trams.

Project time frame

January 2010 - January 2012

Project cost
